Le Bois de Boulogne at 2,200 acres is the city's largest park. Situated in the 16th arrondissement, "Le Bois" was modeled after London's Hyde Park and is favored by joggers, bicyclists, rowers, and picnickers.
Located in the 12th arrondissement,
Le Bois de Vincennes features museums, zoos, four lakes, and a well-known flower garden. Several popular annual events are held here, including a carnival and an antique fair.
Jardin des Tuileries is one of the city's best-loved gardens and is situated in the 1st arrondissement in a location convenient to many other Paris landmarks. The neoclassical gardens here were originally laid out in the 17th century.
Visitors to the 5th arrondissement enjoy a visit to the
Jardin des Plantes with its giant dragon sculpture at the park entrance. Other interesting attractions here include a labyrinth, rose garden, medicinal plant garden, and a small zoo.
Jardin et Palais du Luxembourg near the
Sorbonne and the
Latin Quarter is a well-visited Paris attraction. Fountains, statues, tennis courts, a playground, and a puppet theater delight visitors and residents alike.
Commissioned in 1778, the well-maintained
Parc Monceau in the 8th arrondissement is surrounded by many of the most elegant residences in Paris. As a touch of whimsy, this park includes a Roman temple, a farm, a Dutch windmill, and medieval ruins.
